South Korean President Lee Myung-bak has agreed with his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao, when the later visited Seoul in 2008, that the two sides should take Shanghai World Expo as an opportunity to further expand bilateral people-related exchanges, and designated 2010 as Visit China Year and 2012 as Visit Korea Year, Park said. Meanwhile, the Seoul's government invested some 40 billion won (about 35 million U.S. dollars) to build the South Korean Pavilion, and a number of high-level government officials and lawmakers are wholesale colthing planning to visit the exposition, Park said. South Korea's participation in Shanghai World Expo is the largest to date in Seoul's World Expo experiences since it took part in Paris World Expo in 1889, Park noted. The South Korean Pavilion, with an area of nearly 7,700 square meters, is one of the 12 largest pavilions, except the host China, he added. According to Park, the construction work of the pavilion will be completed by mid-April at the latest, and besides, the South Korean government will build Seoul City Pavilion and South Korean Enterprises Pavilion in other places in Shanghai. Park said that echoing to the theme of Expo 2010 -- "Better City, Better Life", the South Korean Pavilion takes "Harmonious City, Colorful Life" as its main title. Featured with a miniature of the city of Seoul, Korean traditional culture, arts, food and high technology, the pavilion try to show visitors a true South Korea, he said.
